Consequences of reporting false information

Workers who deliberately report false information or withhold information pertinent to their claim in order to receive workers compensation insurance benefits may be disqualified from receiving further benefits and may be subject to both criminal prosecution and civil penalties. Workers compensation insurance fraud includes:

  • Requesting and/or receiving temporary total disability benefits while working for gain as an employee of a business, independent contractor or business owner.
  • Making a false statement and/or submitting false documentation concerning wages and/or employment.
  • Misrepresenting facts concerning an industrial accident, injury, or illness to your employer, your physician, or any representative of the State Insurance Fund.

The price of fraud

All of us who live and work in Idaho pay the price for fraud - in lost jobs and profits, lower wages and benefits, and higher costs for goods and services. The State Insurance Fund does not tolerate fraud. The Fund has established a toll-free hotline to report suspected fraud. If you suspect anyone of committing a fraud against the Fund, you can call 800-448-4743 or e-mail .
